Gator Cases GKPE-49-TSA 49 Note Keyboard Case TSA Latches Review

Gator Cases GKPE-49-TSA 49 Note Keyboard Case TSA Latches

The picture shown is for the **61**, not the 49. What's the big deal? The big deal is the fact that the 49 has three latches, not four. The other big deal if you like your wrists is the fact that with three latches on the Gator GKPE-49-TSA, the handle is off-center. Therefore, when you pick up the case suitcase-style, it forces your wrist to assume a clumsy and somewhat painful angle. The construction is strong, and tough, and generally top-notch, the padding is excellent, and the adjustable internal side wall is high quality and flexible in positioning. The outer material will never fail. But, the case is pretty heavy for it's size, and the off center handle is a deal killer. I'm paying the return shipping and returning the one that I have. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY THE 49.

Gator GK88 Lightweight Keyboard Case on Wheels Review

Gator GK88 Lightweight Keyboard Case on Wheels

An OK universal case with some drawbacks: It needs TWO handles rather than one in center--keyboards that fit this are too heavy for 1 handle. It does not have enough cushioning in the base where the wheels and back sleds drag over steps; There is not enough storage for pedals and chords. The back "sleds" are made so that they CATCH on stairs and door jambs when being rolled! Need some angle skids to fix this and another handle horizontally at the foot so a follower can help lift the unit when it is towed on wheels. Look for a different case.

Musician's Gear 49-Key Keyboard Gig Bag Review

Musician's Gear 49-Key Keyboard Gig Bag

I bought the Musicians Gear 61-Key Keyboard Gig Bag from Amazon/Musicians friend. Looks like the 49 is the same exact case, just a little smaller to accomodate a 49 keyboard case. For the money you can't beat it. You also can't beat the bag, and I mean that literally. It has about a half inch of foam, protected by a nicely rugged material that is sure to wear and stand up to a lot of abuse for a long time.
I was perplexed when trying to decide which bag to get, wondering just how much protection they each had. Since I bought this from the picture, it was hard to figure out. So someone else in this position would like to know, that if you plan on transporting your 49 key keyboard occassionally, it is great for that. If I was a roady, with frequent gigs, I would be looking for a hardshell case, with a thick foam interior to really do the job.
Since this case is thick fabric, and a half inch of foam, it will prevent your keyboard from getting scraped up transporting it around, and will be forgiving when you give it a light bump, but for serious protection, you need a hardshell case with thick foam.
I don't want you to misunderstand me, I love this gig bag. It is exactly what I need, and the price is almost too good to be true. You can't beat it. The side has a larger pouch that will fit a laptop or some gear, like your footpedals. There is a smaller pouch sewed onto the outside of the laptop pouch so to speak, you could put a foot pedal in there, maybe two.
I couldn't see the more expensive bags being made out of better material, but I could see a lot thicker foam, to protect the keyboard against banging into a door jamb for example.
Nice case for the money. Built strong out of nice material, but the foam is a little thinner then would be required to better protect your keyboard against serious bumps. For my needs, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Musician's Gear 61-Key Keyboard Gig Bag Review

I have about a ten-year-old Yamaha 61-key keyboard and this case worked perfectly for it. If you have a keyboard near the dimensions mentioned on the page, it should fit in this and not slide around too much. I haven't transported the keyboard with it much yet, so its ruggedness will be tested this weekend when I haul it around some.
The zippered pouches in the front are a great addition for lots of things. For me, however, it is perfect to create my own studio-in-a-bag.
The big zippered pouch seems almost tailor-made for my 12" Apple iBook laptop, and a little sheet music will fit in there, too. There are additional pockets in front of the laptop-size pouch that will hold my USBMIDI interface and MIDI cable.
So for $15 I get a case that will let me perform and play everywhere (the keyboard can run on batteries). And its construction and shipment went well.
Recommended.
