(More customer reviews)I bought this stand because I need space for a volume pedal, sustain pedal, and rotary speaker effect on the floor, so the "X" style stands don't work for me. I have been using the "Z" style, but it took a long time to set up. This opens up immediately and is heavy duty. The only tradeoff is that it makes it somewhat awkward to carry, especially if you're not too tall. I put a bungee cord between the legs to keep them from swinging around. There is a little side-to-side play when it is all set up. I also bought the M-92 upper tier separately, and it seems they may have had different versions. The stand has a nut in the bottom of the frame while the second tier has the threads on the side. There was also no tool to adjust the second tier in the kit, but I found a couple metric screws, m8 x1.25 thread and the star drive screwdriver at the hardware store to complete my set up. So far so good.

(More customer reviews)Although the cost was low and the pedal does provide a sustain for my older keyboard (casio wk1200) ... I'm a bit disappointed with the fact it is a bit too light under foot. For the few extra bucks the heavier foot pedal would be better. I gave it a 3 because This guy (on tile or other than carpet) tends to run away from you...other than that... for the price (if you're saving bucks) don't hesitate to purchase it.

(More customer reviews)Returning this, disappointed to find that it needs a 9v battery or an AC adapter, not included. The battery is drained as long as there is a plug in one of the two input jacks. Silly rabbit, why couldn't it cycle off when no signal flowing for 5-10 minutes (or some similar solution)? I'd be replacing the battery constantly or having to unplug it all the time. (Rest of my setup is all on a single power strip that I can switch on/off easily.) The old Boss FV-200 on loan to me from a friend doesn't require any power source.

M-Audio SP-1 US65000 Sustain Pedal for Keyboards Review

(More customer reviews)The M-Audio SP-1 US65000 is a sturdy and solid pedal. The case is metal, not plastic, so it'll hold up well over time. The rubber pads on the top and bottom keep it from moving around, though the pads have a tendency to come loose.
The main reliability issue with the pedal is the low-cost construction inside. Instead of having the pedal actuate a switch inside, there's just a stiff bare wire that presses down against another bare wire to make contact. It works and is cheaper to manufacture than using a real switch. However, if the pedal goes unused for a few days, oxidation forms on the bare wire, which results in unreliable contact and flaky pedal response. Depressing the pedal a dozen or more times clears off the oxidation. If it doesn't, opening the pedal and cleaning the wire resolves any inconsistent/noisy pedal signals.
If you're handy with a soldering iron, replacing the pseudo-switch with a real momentary contact switch would yield a really great pedal.

M-Audio EX-P Expression Pedal Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this pedal along with an Axiom 61 keyboard. The Axiom had to go back to M-Audio within a couple of weeks because certain keys were putting out full velocity at all times.
The pedal lasted a little longer, but eventually failed - during a gig. I opened it to see if a repair was possible. The pedal is generally well designed for a product at this price point, with one major weakness: The linkage between the treadle and potentiometer is made of flimsy plastic that is destined to fail under even the most optimistic conditions.
This is planned obsolescence of the worst sort. Because my pedal was (just) out of warranty, and M-Audio doesn't stock parts for it, I was told that "it would be most cost-effective for you to just buy another pedal". Ha....fat chance, lesson learned. Bought a Boss FV500L, never looked back. The Boss will probably outlive me.

Unwilling to be an environmental hazard, I decided to purchase a pedal that has the feel of an acoustic piano's pedal. (Much better than buying that yellow tape to surround myself with...)
If you are looking for the feel of an acoustic piano's pedal, I would recommend the FC-4. Or if you want the same feel with a pedal that can do more than just sustain, I'd recommend the FC-3.

Yamaha FC4 Piano Style Foot Pedal Review

(More customer reviews)We got a Yamaha DGX-230 and the FC4 floor pedal for Christmas. My son recently started lessons, and he and my wife reported that when they tried to use the FC4, it didn't work, and they had disconnected it.
I plugged it in and tried it, and indeed, it was backwards. When it wasn't pressed, it sustained. When it was pressed, it didn't. There was no polarity or mode switch.
However, after about 20 minutes of Googling, I found an online PDF of the model 220 owner's manual that contained this snippet:
"Make sure that the footswitch plug is properly connected to the SUSTAIN jack BEFORE turning on the power."
It turns out I hadn't bothered to turn off the DGX-230 before plugging it in. When I followed the instructions, everything worked fine.
I also noted this caution as well:
"Do not press the footswitch while turning the power on. Doing this changes the recognized polarity of the footswitch, resulting in reversed footswitch operation."
So, although the FC4 apparently doesn't have a polarity switch, the DGX-230 can switch its OWN polarity.
Other models of course may work differently.
So far I'm quite pleased with both Yamaha products and I'm impressed with the thought Yamaha has put in to them.

(More customer reviews)I had been using the 'pedal' which came with the keyboard for the Privia px-100 keyboard which is nothing like a pedal on a normal piano. I purchased the M-Audio pedal to replace it.
At first I was thrilled with this pedal, but when I bought a stand for my digital piano I discovered a problem. This pedal is very long, 10.5". With the stand against the wall there was no room to push the pedal far enough back to place into a normal playing position. I had to move the stand about 8 inches from the wall to put the pedal into place.
Before buying just beware of how you have/want to arrange your keyboard and be sure you'll have the room to use the pedal comfortably.
