Yamaha PKBZ1 Adjustable Z Keyboard Stand Review

Height is adjustable in 3-inch increments from 22-to-36 inches. Keyboard sits on top of the stand as it would on a table, so add distance from the bottom of keyboard base to top of keys to estimate key height above the floor.
A Yamaha PSR-series keyboard is 3-inches to top of keys, so if the stand is set at the second position, keyboard height is about 28-inches, about the same as a piano. Adding an intermediate height would be as simple as drilling a 15/64" hole through an upright on each side.
Stand is sufficiently sturdy, and very well designed. Simple assembly consists of unfolding top and bottom of each Z, attaching adjustable cross-bar between the Z's; it fits into a U-shaped receiver on each side, where it attaches with a single threaded knob onto a welded bolt. Width is infinitely adjustable from 22-to-35 inches (dimensions from package). A horizontal flange extends outboard from the top of each Z, drilled for bolts (included) to attach keyboard. The holes are about 1-inch outboard of the Z, so if manufacturer's width spec is correct, it would accommodate a keyboard whose mounting holes are 24-to-38 inches apart.
It's all steel, except for plastic knobs attached to steel nuts or bolts. Threaded parts are deep and it looks like it could survive being repeatedly assembled and disassembled, thought that's not in my plans.
Includes touches I wouldn't expect at this price, such as rubber pads on top to protect the keyboard, soft spring-loaded ball bearings to latch the top and bottom of each Z into position. Utilitarian in appearance, decent construction quality (China), flat black painted finish.

Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand Review

Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand

I had looked at numerous stands for my Yamaha keyboard and didn't want to spend a ton of money for a professional grade stand (at professional prices). With that in mind, the Yamaha PKBX2 Double X Portable Keyboard Stand is a good choice at $29.99. I had seen other stands that were not as sturdy (single X stands)and cost about the same price.
Tips for assembly:
- Don't read the instructions, just look at the enlarged image of the keyboard stand on Amazon and assemble the stand the way it's shown.
- The bolts for attaching the arms and legs come screwed in to the stand. Use the (included )Allen Wrench to remove them and then re-install them when you are putting it together.
PROS:
- Low price.
- Solid, sturdy stand.
- Works for just about any keyboard.
- The stand's height is fully adjustable, and can be easily changed in several seconds - without having to unscrew anything.
CONS:
- There is no way to attach a keyboard to this stand. No screws, bolts or straps are included, even though most (including my Yamaha) keyboards have pre-drilled holes for screwing the board to a stand. The keyboard simply sits on top of the stand. I was VERY disappointed about this.
- The included Allen wrench did not work for one of the bolts. The bolt came screwed in to the stand way too tightly to be removed using the included tool. The Allen Wrench only stripped the bolt, it did not loosen it. Luckily my husband had a better Allen Wrench of nearly identical size, and that one worked. Without it, we would not have been able to loosen the bolt.

Yamaha PKBS1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Stand Review

Yamaha PKBS1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Stand

When I purchased my daughter a keyboard for Christmas, this stand was included. I must admit that I was very skeptical at first about a stand that was included with the product, but I am very happy.
It is very sturdy, easy to use and folds for storage or transport. The legs scissor, so the height can be adjusted for basically any type of seating you use - we have used it from kitchen chair to bar stool height. When not in use, you can collapse the legs together for easier storage, the width is about 4" when closed.
The only downside to the product, and I am not sure it is a problem with the product or with keyboards, is that there is no mechanism to firmly attach the keyboard to the stand. The keyboard just sits on top of the stand, and can easily be bumped off. I am sure that a way to attach the keyboard could be found, however I would not recommend this stand to a household with small children or for a household where the keyboard will be placed in a high traffic area.
