88 Key Portable Grand with stand Review

88 Key Portable Grand with stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this keyboard because I don't have a piano at home. I decided on this one, because it has recording capabilities, which I planned on using for my many church activities. I was blown away by all the different things this keyboard can do. The recording is very good. You can record up to five tracks on each song. The keyboard has over 500 different voices. There are several special effects sounds that are very realistic sounding.
This keyboard comes with educational tools. I was very surprised to find different styles of music in the keyboard, so you can learn to improvise while playing with bands. I will be using that to increase my ability to play in church. All the educational stuff has to be downloaded onto the keyboard. I personally like that, because it keeps the keyboard from being too cluttered with things I'm not using. Some might find that a hassle, though.
The grand piano sound is beautiful. It is very soft, so it wouldn't be good to use without amplification in any performance setting. And, when recording, most other instrument sounds seem to drown it out. But, that might produce a good balance for someone who didn't want the piano to be the main sound of a recording.
I had read in some reviews of other keyboards that some of them have a clicking sound when you play. This keyboard does have the clicking sound, but only when the keyboard is turned almost completely down. I can't see it being a problem for anyone, unless you have particularly sensitive ears!
I give it four stars only because I would not consider this keyboard portable. It is very big, and it connects to the stand. I had bought this hoping to take it back and forth to church. That will not be happening.
All in all, this is an incredible keyboard for someone that wants the ability to have a good quality sound, to be able to record, and doesn't want to pay the high cost of a more "professional" keyboard. I am very impressed.

Yamaha S70XS Synthesizer, 76-Note Balanced Hammer-Weighted Action Review

Yamaha S70XS Synthesizer, 76-Note Balanced Hammer-Weighted Action
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The s70xs and the s90xs are the same internally so what I write here applies to both.
I own this keyboard (s70xs). The much vaunted s6 piano sound suffers from awful harmonics on the C#1, D1 and D#1 keys. My previous keyboard (EX7) sounded fine through my Roland KC350 keyboard amp. The harmonics on these keys when played through the same amp sound terrible, totally unusable in a live situation in my opinion. Through headphones it sounds 'OK', not great but more bearable.
The piano sounds also sound dull and muffled in my (and many others) opinion.
It also drops notes like crazy when played reasonably fast, even with a single voice like a piano selected. It also drops drum hits as well if you have a drum track playing in the same situation. I don't think this is a polyphony issue, it simply does not work as it should (others have reported the same issue). Again, this makes is unusable in a live situation. It's not so great just playing at home either!
Small screen size is not that much of an issue but they way some information is not displayed when it would make sense to do so makes some aspects of using it more time consuming than it needs to be but otherwise it is usable.
Manuals are typical Yamaha which means pretty terrible as far as actually trying to use them to do anything 'real' but I suspect that issue is not limited to this keyboard, my EX7 manuals are just as bad.
Cannot use a modified voice in a performance without saving it first. Makes it harder to just 'try out' different settings in a mix.
Other than that the keyboard is great so it's a shame that the above issues with the harmonics and dropped notes make what should be a great keyboard into something that should be avoided.
My recommendation. Do not buy this keyboard.

Yamaha Portable Grand DGX505 Electronic Keyboard Piano Review

Yamaha Portable Grand DGX505 Electronic Keyboard Piano
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The acoustic sounds that this keyboard produces are impressive. The grand piano, horns, guitars, and drums are excellent. The built-in songs demonstrate the sonic capabilities of the instrument very well. The keyboard touch response is adequate for all but lead-fisted pounders. The user interface is, for the most part, clear and easy to use with many short-cut procedures built-in. The display is bright, easy to read, and well organized. Of course, the built-in learning system, easy to use recorder, metronome, rhythm patterns, and accompaniments make this an excellent choice for beginning muscians. Yet, the acoustic sounds are good enough for even more advanced players and could easily be the perfect instrument for one-man-band type performers. The stereo speakers produces clean, spacious sound that gives the music a lifelike feel. Where this keyboard begins to fall short is for more experienced and technically astute players who would prefer to have more powerful and complex functions built-in. Like better, more extensive effects processing, a more robust sequencer, an arppegiator, a more versitile rhythm processor, more one-touch/twist accessible sound modifiers, more internal user memory, a more responsive, weighted keyboard, etc. Of course, all these things come with a price and adding them would bump-up the price of the keyboard - which is one of the most attractive things about it! Typically, for less than $600 you can own one ... not many instruments of this caliber can make that claim! I hope Yamaha continues this line with just a little beefier, more expandable model. In particular they need to replace the Smart Media card slot with a USB port that will allow plugging in any of the myriad of cheap USB memory devices currently available for offline storage. Also, I would add more user accessible internal memory (relatively cheap). I would beef-up the sequencer and add some additional effects / processing options. And, I would add an expansion slot for additional sound sets and/or add-on functionality. Nonetheless, for the money, the sound, and the playability, you can't beat this instrument. I liked it the first time I saw/played it and I still do (after a year of owning it). Good job Yamaha!

Korg SP250 Digital Piano White Review

Korg SP250 Digital Piano White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I cannot distinguish a difference between the sound of this Korg and my Baldwin Hamilton studio piano. The only thing it lacks is a real piano's "oomph". The tone is beautifully rich. The keys respond like the Baldwin, both in touch and sound. It never needs tuning. The keys have the look and feel of a real piano. The sound doesn't fade no matter how many keys are played at the same time.
This keyboard weights around 45 pounds. It isn't really ideal for portability, if that's what you need.
It comes with built-in sounds that can be combined to your taste (choir, organ, strings, etc), as well as a metronome. You can also adjust the tension of the keys to accommodate a light to heavy touch. It does not have a means for internal recording.
The earphone jack is wonderful. You can play this thing at 3 AM and no neighbors will complain. It actually accommodates two sets of earphones.
The stand is very sturdy. No wobble. The keyboard rests squarely on top with no jiggle room. No need to worry about knocking this off the stand.
A metal stabilizing bar rests on the floor and attaches to the bottom of the legs. The sustain pedal hooks over that bar to prevent it from sliding and getting away from you.
The quality cabinet is rich looking.
I've owned this Korg for two months. I haven't touched the Baldwin since I bought it. You might be able to talk me out of my Baldwin studio, but you'll never get my Korg.*** IMPORTANT UPDATE *** 5/24/2010 - This Korg has developed a ringing/vibration in its left speaker. It started a couple months ago, very slight and only occasionally at first, but it has been increasing in both volume and annoyance. It becomes noticeable within 30 minutes of activating the keyboard. It worsens the longer I play.

The SP-250 Digital Piano comes complete with a matching, collapsible stand, internal sound system, and authentic half-damping pedal. The pedal hooks right onto the stand, so it cannot "creep" forward during performance. The RH3 Real Weighted Hammer keyboard provides an authentic, natural piano feel. Thirty sounds - including a dynamic, multi-level concert grand piano - are included, covering everything from electric pianos and organs to more adventurous sounds - marimba, guitar, strings, and choir. Reverb and Chorus effects can add even more character. Ideal for students, the SP250 transposes to any key, and offers a metronome and dual headphone outputs for private lessons.

I am disappointed in the bench as the wood color does not match the stand color for the Yamaha keyboard. There is quite a bit of red in bench wood color and no red in the stand color.

Stay comfortable and relaxed while playing your digital keyboard with this Yamaha WB2 bench. Specifically designed to match the DGX505 keyboard but appropriate for a variety of digital and acoustic pianos, the bench is furnished with a thick padded seat and a strategic air vent in the cushion. Combined, the padding and vent support your bottom over long periods while protecting the seat filling from wear and tear. The bench is tough and attractive, too, thanks to its light-grain wood finish and sturdy wooden legs. In fact, its elegant design looks great in everything from Victorian to modern living rooms. It's a particularly good choice for users who value both comfort and portability, as it measures only 22.5 by 19 by 13.75 inches (W x H x D).
The bench comes disassembled but comes together quickly and easily thanks to the included four bolts and assembly tool.
What's in the Box Bench, four bolts, assembly tool, user's manual.

Yamaha DGX-630 88 Full-Sized Keyboard with Weighted Action Review

Yamaha DGX-630 88 Full-Sized Keyboard with Weighted Action
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a complete piano novice, but my next-door neighbor, who plays for a living and owns a Kurzweil came over, and after playing it a few minutes said, "If you don't mind my asking, how much did this cost?" His keyboard is a few years old, but he said that he likes the action on this better than his, and he found the sound excellent.
I'm writing this review because I had a few questions that I wished I knew the answers to, but could not find anywhere online before I bought this product sight unseen.
1. Question: How many degrees of loudness are there, depending on how hard you strike?
Answer: A lot. At least 8, but I suspect if my fingers were more dextrous and my ear better I could hear many more levels of touch sensitivity. In any case it sounds in this respect just like a piano to me.
2. Question: Does the timbre of the note change depending on how hard I strike the key?
Answer: Yes, and this effect depends on which keys you strike. In the low notes you hear a realistic sounding distortion when you slam down on the key. On the high notes you hear that hollow sound of the wood piano frame when you nail it. This latter effect was so realistic that I had to turn off the keyboard to be sure it wasn't something that was physically happening inside the box rather than a simulated effect.
Question: On a sustained note does the sound simply fade, or does the quality of the sound change in a natural sounding way as it fades out?
Answer: Again, it sounds just like a real piano to me in this regard.
This keyboard has a "graded hammer action" so that the weight of the keys at the top is lighter than the weight at the bottom. While they may have reproduced this effect accurately, it is almost indiscernable to me with the keyboard off. But with the keyboard on, the weight of the keys feels absolutely distinct from top to bottom because the "strings" at the top and bottom respond so differently. That is, the sound is so good that it tricks your brain into sensing that the keys have completely different weights.
I bought it in spite of the fact that I wasn't sure of the answers to these questions, and it is exactly what I had hoped for. It feels and sounds just like a piano to me, especially with good headphones, which allow me to practice scales in my living room without driving my family insane.

Yamaha P155 Contemporary Piano with Mahogany Top Board, Black Review

Yamaha P155 Contemporary Piano with Mahogany Top Board, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently did an exhaustive review of the digital piano world as I am trying to teach my children to play the piano. Accoustic pianos are not a choice due to the size, weight, cost, and tuning requirements. I love the idea of a piano that is always in tune (and can move if we move), but I wanted to be sure I was teaching my kids in a way that they could easily play a grand piano if presented with one. The biggest concern is muscle memory, and making sure their fingers are used to the feel of a real key.
Roland makes some of the top-of-the-line pianos, but they also come with a high cost. I am sure the sound might be a bit better, but I could not justify the expense. I tried out some of the higher-end Yamaha pianos, and while I was impressed, still was shocked at the cost. The P85 was the lowest cost Yamaha piano I tried that seemed it could be good for teaching. It sounded nice, feature the weighted keys with "graded hammer standard" (GHS), and was reasonably portable. However, I felt the P85 keys were a little hard to push with a little too much return. I had a higher-end Yamaha nearby (non-portable) and found the keys much better. The store also had a grand piano, and the higher-end Yamaha was much closer than the P85.
With a little research, I discovered that the high-end Yamaha pianos (the ones that cost $2k and up) use "graded hammer effect" (GHE), a step up from GHS. Since the discontinuation of the P-140, the P-155 is the least expensive piano to support GHE. It also has 128 note polyphony, 14 voices with 4 tonal varieties, and support for a sustain pedal (you only need 1 pedal for most playing).
What are the downsides to the P-155? Some other digital pianos have far more voices, more recording capability, and louder speakers. The P-140 only had 6-watt speakers. This was improved with the P-155 (12W speakers), but it is still not the best.
For the class of piano that this is, the improvements do not justify the price upgrade from the P-140 to the P-155, but if you are just starting out, there's no better piano for the price. And if you can get a good used deal on a P-140, it will be just as good.

Yamaha YPG635 88-Key Weighted Portable Grand Review

Yamaha YPG635 88-Key Weighted Portable Grand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you've ever moved a real piano, you know the problem. Moving a piano needs to be done by a professional. Pianos need tuning.
But, at the same time, nothing is quite like a real piano. The feel of playing one, the sound - hundreds of years of development have combined to bring the sound and feel to its current state and, when it all comes together, there is nothing quite like it.
But that comes at a price. Did I mention tuning? Action tuneups?
So was developed the keyboard - and the keyboard feels like a keyboard - the action is wrong. And it does not have the rich sound of a piano.
So we arrived at the electric piano. Early electric pianos were neither fish nor foul - they were partially mechanical devices that still needed to be mechanically tuned. The actions were more or less horrible. The sound was that of an electric piano, not a real piano.
The Yamaha sounds like a piano - within the limitations of its speakers. Its action? Better than some real pianos and much less likely to need an action tuneup.
And all the benefits that you can get from modern electronics. Full DSP so that you can get simulated concert hall acoustics if you want.
This is an amazing item. It comes with 30 songs programmed into it, and 70 more on an included CD - and if you are inclined to learn them, it can teach them to you. More music can be downloaded using the software provided and your computer can load them into the piano or you can use a thumb drive to move them. You can learn the left and right hand parts separately. It will show you the music, and the corresponding piano keys that you need to press on the little display. You can start slow - and it will wait, patiently, until you find and press the correct key.
(For Christmas I downloaded a number of Christmas Carols in Standard Midi Format - put them on a USB thumb drive and then plugged the thumb drive into the piano - it was able to play all of them as a midi player - and, for at least some of them, it could teach them to you - I believe that it may be a matter of determining how to select the right ans left hand parts, which I have not managed to do yet - the instructions are not simple. But it worked instantly as a player piano).
At the same time it accompanies you, or not, as you choose.
I first tried this piano in a store - it was lined up with a bunch of other electrics and it had the best action of any of them - the action was clearly the most piano like - in fact, I thought that it had a better feel than some of the real pianos, in terms of consistency and smoothness while still being weighted properly.
The triple pedal attachment gives you a soft pedal, a full sustain, and a left hand sustain, just as the better pianos do (this is an option which I recommend).
The ONLY downside, in my opinion, is the size of the display. It is actually rather tiny, and, as far as I can tell, there is no way to attach an external display.
In my opinion, the controls are reasonably intuitive. And there is one button that you can press which says, "get out of my way and just be a piano".
This is the home piano of the present - frankly, while you need real pianos in concert halls, and even in piano bars, this is what you want in your home - for the kids to play and learn piano on, to plink Christmas carols out on, and to play yourself. Record your music. We need music.
This is the piano of the apartment dweller - because it has a volume control, and a headphone jack. And it can be moved up and down the steps.
I'm not a piano expert. I'm surprising my wife with one of these for Christmas, though. I think she will be really happy with it.
I strongly recommend the optional pedal assembly. The keyboard comes with a portable keyboard style pedal that does sustain, but the triple pedal assembly has a piano pedal feel, and has soft, full sustain, and sostenudo, (which means, in this context, that it will sustain keys you are holding as you press the pedal, but not those that you press after you press the pedal). It takes a few minutes to install, and precisely fits the stand that comes with the keyboard.

And for singers, the screen also displays chords and lyrics to XF compatible songs. And for those that want to learn to play, notation adds a new dimension to the Yamaha Education Suite, allowing you to hear a song while you follow the notes in the display.
USB Connectivity Brings Music Directly To Your Keyboard The YPG-635 has 2 USB ports on the back with the following functionality
USB TO HOST is plug and play simple for recording and playing back MIDI files, as well as transferring data to and from your computer.
USB TO DEVICE is for connecting optional peripheral USB storage devices like floppy disk drives and thumb drives. When a USB flash memory is inserted in this instrument's USB TO DEVICE terminal, user songs created on the instrument and the registered settings can be saved to or loaded from the memory medium. USB flash memory can also be used to transfer song data downloaded from the Internet to the instrument, where it can be used with the performance assistant technology and the Yamaha Education Suite features mentioned below. Furthermore, user songs saved to USB flash memory in MIDI file format can also be used with these features.

Ease of Operation There are many tools in the keyboard that make it easy to be a power user from the first day you own the keyboard.
Expandable Music Database: Complete keyboard setups by song title. The keyboard selects an appropriate voice for the right hand melody, the correct musical style and the correct tempo. Simply call up a song title and start playing.
One Touch Setting (OTS): Provides you with a recommended voice with effects for each Style. For example, on a jazz style OTS might be piano, for a Latin style it might be acoustic guitar and for a rock style it might be a guitar with overdrive etc.
Registration Memory: Set the keyboard up just the way you like and take a digital snapshot by memorizing it to one of the Registration buttons. Load and save up to 16 Registrations to User memory. The Registration buttons are conveniently located just above the keyboard.
Performance Assistant Technology: Performance assistant technology is a feature from Yamaha that guarantees that you can't play a wrong melody note or chord. Here's how it works. Select a song, press the Performance.

Yamaha Education Suite The YPG-635 has 30 built-in songs plus 70 more on included CD-ROM for you to learn to play using the Yamaha Education Suite. The songs are separated into left and right hand parts, providing 7 levels of lessons plus a convenient chord dictionary.
Three keyboard lessons for each hand
Waiting Mode: stops the playback of a song until you find the correct note and then continues.
Your Tempo Mode: Learn to play the correct notes with the correct timing. Song playback tempo will vary to match the speed you are playing at. The song will slow down when you play wrong notes, so you can learn at your own pace.
Minus One Mode: Here's where you can perfect your technique. The song will play at the normal tempo, minus the part you have chosen to play. Play along while listening to the song.

Lesson Grading – monitors your progress as you practice each lesson and gives you a grade.
Repeat and Learn – The song location will move back four measures from the point at which you pressed the button, and playback will begin after a one measure count-in. This section will repeat allowing you to practice until perfect!
Chord Dictionary – shows you how to play chords and tells you which chords you are playing by displaying the notes and chord names on the LCD screen.

6-Track Sequencer: Record Your Own Music
Imagine capturing your child's first performance or writing and recording your own songs. With the YPG-635, you have the equivalent of a built-in multi-track recorder to record one or multiple instrument parts at a time and assign each part to a different track. Six tracks are provided to accommodate sophisticated melodies, chord accompaniment and rhythm parts.

Sound Quality
2-Way Speaker System: Separate woofers and tweeters deliver sounds with clarity and precision for more lifelike instrument voices.
Bass Boost System: A special port on each speaker adds a powerful impact to bass sound reproduction.
Stereo (Not just 2 Speakers): We all know that stereo sound adds realistic character and spatial depth. But how can you tell if the portable keyboard you're looking to purchase is stereo or not? With Yamaha, the answer is simple. All Yamaha Portable Keyboards are true stereo.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Enhances sound quality with sophisticated digital effects like Harmony, Reverb & Chorus.
Advanced Wave Memory (AWM): Yamaha Advanced Wave Memory technology delivers amazingly realistic sound.

Digital Effects Yamaha has long been a world leader in digital signal processing technology. In fact, Yamaha professional audio products are found in most professional recording studios around the world. The YPG-635 takes full advantage of this know-how, giving you an extensive range of twenty-nine, top-quality reverb effects that simulate playing in everything from a small room to a large spacious concert hall and twenty-four chorus effects that add richness to electric pianos and guitars in particular and 182 DSP types for adding everything from distorted guitars to rotary speaker effects. You'll also find 26 types of Harmony effects for your melody part.
Full Keyboard Mode The YPG-635 delivers on its piano theme with a special mode of fingering called Full Keyboard Mode. This allows the player to play the keyboard like a piano; for example a chord with the right hand and bass notes with the left. When using the accompaniment feature, the virtual band will follow these chords. Traditional portable keyboards normally require you to chord on the left side of the keyboard, in the bass section, which is foreign to most piano players. The YPG-635 is also capable of this mode, for those who prefer it.
Digital Music Notebook Digital Music Notebook is a multimedia Internet service that enables you to preview, purchase, download and print learn-to-play music books and chart-topping sheet music. From scales to chords to your favorite riffs, Digital Music Notebook is jam-packed with all the secrets you need to master your instrument. Add accompaniments, record and mix yourself, sing karaoke with friends, learn new techniques while having a blast--Digital Music Notebook delivers everything you need to bring music alive! Realistic Sounding Voices The YPG-635 comes equipped with 130 panel voices, 12 drum/SFX kits plus 361 XGlite voices. Special voices include Sweet! Clarinet, Trumpet, Muted Trumpet, Flute, Pan Flute, Soprano & Tenor Saxes, Trombone, Cool! Voices including Galaxy Electric Piano, Suitcase Electric Piano, Electric Piano, Organ and Rotor Organ and Live! Voices including Grand Piano, Warm Grand Piano and Orchestra.
Sweet! Voices reproduce all the natural expression and vibrato of their respective acoustic instruments
Cool! Voices feature long samples of electronically amplified instruments
Live! Voices use stereo samples to ensure the most accurate reproduction of each instrument's natural presence, resonance and vibrato
Dual Mode allows you to combine two voices across the keyboard at the same time--for example piano and strings.
Split Mode allows you to select a different voice for each hand--for example piano for your right and bass for your left. The combinations are limited only by your imagination.

64 Note Polyphony and 16 Part Multi TimbrelIn electronic keyboards, the more sounds made at the same time--polyphony--the more memory is needed. Obviously, more is always better, because too little polyphony can cause dropouts in dense passages of music. The YPG-635 has 64 notes of polyphony and will play back 16 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi timbrel); enough for the most demanding needs.
MetronomeJust what the teacher ordered! A fully adjustable metronome is just a button push away.

Yamaha DGX-530 Keyboard, 88 Full-Sized Lightly Weighted Piano Style Keys Review

Yamaha DGX-530 Keyboard, 88 Full-Sized Lightly Weighted Piano Style Keys
Average Reviews:

Tried this instrument out in the store and could not figure out what the difference was between this one and the 520 I previously reviewed on amazon. Sound qualities, voices, layout, display, and software all seemed identical to me to the 520. Finally, after a direct inquiry to Yamaha, I was told that the only difference between this model and the 520 was that the 530 contained 10 more rhythm sequences.
So, if you're one of those who would use this instrument heavily for recording and composition, and just could never find the right rhythmic background, you can try this one and see if one of their ten extra sequences works for you.
If you're like me, however, who use the keyboard mostly for performance purposes and only occasional composition and recording, it really isn't worth upgrading. If you're diligent enough and have the software (pretty much any layered music recording sequence will do; I happen to use Cakewalk 4), you can make and save your own rhythms anyway on either keyboard.
For a more detailed review of other features this keyboard has, check my review out on the DGX-520...aside from the extra rhythms, it's exactly the same.

Yamaha's DGX530 Portable Grand Piano features 88 piano-style keys with Graded Soft Touch, a matching stand, a sustain pedal, USB storage, backlit LCD displays, notation and lyrics, and plenty more.

Piano-Centric Features The Yamaha Portable Grand, DGX530 has an easy to use panel, a wealth of piano-centric features including 88 piano-style keys, Graded Soft Touch (GST) action with different levels of resistance, and high-resolution stereo piano samples. Included are an attractive matching stand and sustain pedal.
USB Connectivity The DGX530 has 2 USB ports on the back, each with a different use. "USB TO HOST" is plug-and-play connection for recording and playing back MIDI files, as well as transferring data to and from your computer.
"USB TO DEVICE" is for connecting peripheral USB storage devices such as hard drives or portable thumb drives. You can save user songs and settings, or transfer song data downloaded from the Internet to the instrument, where it can be used with the performance assistant and Yamaha Education Suite features.
Lyric, Chord and Notation Display Have you ever played a song and wondered what it would look like as sheet music? The DGX530 can display the score to a song whether it comes from the Internet, the internal selections those you record yourself. Pages scroll automatically when a song is played back--no more page turning! For singers, the screen also displays chords and lyrics to XF compatible songs.
Easy to Use The DGX530 is a breeze to use. Dive right in with convenient tools and features:
Expandable Music Database: Complete keyboard setups by song title. The keyboard selects an appropriate voice for the right hand melody, the correct musical style and the correct tempo. Simply call up a song title and start playing.
One Touch Setting (OTS): Provides you with a recommended voice with effects for each Style. For example, on a jazz style OTS might be piano, for a Latin style it might be acoustic guitar, or for a rock style it might be a guitar with overdrive.
Registration Memory: Set the keyboard up just the way you like and take a digital snapshot for instant recall. Load and save up to 16 Registrations to User memory. The Registration buttons are conveniently located just above the keyboard.
Performance Assistant Technology: Performance assistant technology is a feature from Yamaha that guarantees that you can't play a wrong melody note or chord. Here's how it works. Select a song, press the Performance Assistant button Chord Mode and play the keyboard--any notes you like. Every note you play will fit the music!

Yamaha Education Suite: Helps you learn to play The DGX530 has 30 built-in songs (plus 70 more on the included CD-ROM) for you to learn to play using the Yamaha Education Suite. The songs are separated into left and right hand parts, providing 7 levels of lessons plus a convenient chord dictionary.
Three keyboard lessons for each hand:
Waiting Mode--Stops the playback of a song until you find the correct note and then continues.
Your Tempo Mode--Learn to play the correct notes with the correct timing. Song playback tempo will vary to match the speed you are playing at. The song will slow down when you play wrong notes, so you can learn at your own pace.
Minus One Mode--Here's where you can perfect your technique. The song will play at the normal tempo, minus the part you have chosen to play. Play along while listening to the song.

Lesson Grading--Monitors your progress as you practice each lesson and gives you a grade.
Repeat and Learn--The song location will move back four measures from the point at which you pressed the button, and playback will begin after a one measure count-in. This section will repeat allowing you to practice until perfect!
Chord Dictionary--Shows you how to play chords and tells you which chords you are playing by displaying the notes and chord names on the LCD screen.

6-Track Sequencer With the DGX530, you have the equivalent of a built-in multi-track recorder. Record one or multiple instrument parts at a time and assign each part to a different track. Six tracks are provided to accommodate sophisticated melodies, chord accompaniment and rhythm parts.
Quality Sound The DGX530 sounds as good as it plays. A two-way speaker system with separate woofers and tweeters delivers clear and lifelike instrument voices. Bass Boost ports add deeper low-end impact, and true stereo sound adds spatial depth and realism.
Realistic Sounding Voices The DGX530 comes equipped with 127 panel voices, 12 drum/SFX kits, plus 361 XGlite voices. Dual and Split modes allow you to combine sounds.
Full Keyboard Mode The DGX530 delivers on its piano theme with a special mode of fingering called Full Keyboard Mode. The DGX530 is also capable of this mode, for those who prefer it.
And it's included with the DGX530.

Yamaha DGX640W Digital Piano,Walnut Review

Yamaha DGX640W Digital Piano,Walnut
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We just bought one of these because my daughter needed
a keyboard or piano that would respond to touch like a
piano for her piano lessons. Although I am a beginner
piano player myself, I think the keys behave like real
piano keys (in terms of response to force of touch)
and the sound is just incredible--I would not know
the difference between this and a real piano if I
couldn't see them. There is an amazing number of things
you can do with it, although we haven't really worked
through them yet--practice songs (although the repertoire
is not huge; maybe 20 or so songs) and play to a very large
variety of background rhythms and accompaniments, as well
as export what you've played to a computer. I'm not sure
we'll use all these features, because we really just
got it for the weighted key action and it does beautifully
at that, but they're nice to have for the future if we
do continue to play. My daughter adds, "it will keep me
busy for a long time."
It's a decent-looking machine
but is not a beautiful piece of furniture like a piano;
the "wood" portions are clearly synthetic, but seem
sturdy.
We bought it locally for about the same price listed
here and paid about $75 for delivery, but it came with
headphones and bench so I thought it was a good deal.
