Matrix MR-800 Quartz Metronome Review

This metronome is a great product but needs a volume control. The knocks and chimes keep perfect time, but are at full volume. There is no way to reduce the volume in situations that require it. If not for the lack of this feature I'd give it a 5.

The MR800 LED display simulates the swinging motion of a traditional pendulum - especially helpful for students. In addition you can select multiple beat settings with an accent for the downbeat, both visually (green LED) and audibly (chime sound).

Boss DB90 Dr. Beat Metronome Review

When my decades old Seth Thomas metronome sprung its spring, it was time to move in to the new century. Based on multiple reviews of this instrument and others, I opted for this (and I got the power supply, too, to save batteries). Even though I have not yet used all of the powerful features of this metronome, I love everything about it thus far. It is easy to use. It adjusts in multiple ways, making it fully adaptable to the way and volume level that works best for me to hear and keep the beat. After only a couple of times, I found that I can easily make any adjustments with one hand - not needing to wrangle with the metronome in order to get the setting I need. And I love the "tap" feature that lets me choose the tempo without dialing to the exact beats per second setting. I would highly recommend this fine instrument to any one who is serious about practice.

I have visted multiple music stores and looked at a myriad of metronomes, but this one is the best. When my piano students need a metronome, I simply ask the parents if I can order it for them online. They don't have to go to the store ... I can make sure the kids get the best one ... and it's always here by next week's lesson.

Wittner Wood Metronome, Walnut Review

I like this Metronome far better than electronic metronomes because I have gone through two electronic metronomes that for some reason just stopped working; so, I decided to go to the old method, and I am far more satisfied with this old style wind up Metronome. WORD OF WARNING: The Metronome slides from the thumb and fingers when picking it up from the top; so, I used Shoegoo for glue, and I glued a strip of velcro on both sides; the velcro was only the spiky part, and I threw the soft velcro away; now, when I pick the metronome up from the top it will not slide through my thumb and finger; otherwise, it is best to pick up the metronome by grabbing it in a palmed fashion. Also, I had some little rubber circles that glue on to the bottom of electronic products to stop them from sliding around; so I glued a little rubber circle on each one of the feet of the Metronome in order to stop it from sliding off of smooth surfaces because it will slide off on a smooth surface! You do not want to drop this precious item; also, do not wind it up very much so that at the end of each use, you can slide the gauge to beat very fast so that it will completely wind down; thus, removing tension on the spring; also, it has a very nice look to it when it is not being used compared to that of some ugly electronic gadget. The sound on this Metronome is a good loud solid wood nock.

Sabine Zipbeat Digital Metronome Review

Sabine Zipbeat Digital Metronome
Average Reviews:

I generally use a Seiko SQ-50 (ASIN B0002F7GX2) when practicing, but this one has some great features for drummers that the Seiko lacks.
First, for the slower tempos from 40 to 60 beats per minute you can select the beat in two-beat increments versus the four-beat increments that the Seiko is fixed at. From 60 through 72 beats the increments are three-beat, increasing to four-beat from 72 through 120, the range from 126 through 144 is in six-beat increments, increasing to eight-beat increments for the remainder of the range, which stops at 208. While the faster tempo increments have coarser settings than the Seiko (and the Seiko goes to 240 beats), the smaller increments at slower tempos is a plus.
Second, this metronome is LOUD, which is a feature that drummers will appreciate. I also like the ability to set accents to occur anywhere in the two to six beat range. This is another wonderful features for drummers.
It uses both audio and visual clues (a clack and LED lights), and has a headphone jack.
This metronome has won me over. I still use my Seiko, but find myself using this one more and more. If you're a drummer I strongly recommend that you give this one a try.

Seiko SAT1100 Chromatic Tuner Review

Seiko SAT1100 Chromatic Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I started measuring the cent deviations of certain musical notes, I first used the KORG OT-120 tuner.
After a while I noticed, that OT-120 diplays a too large cent deviation if the pitch is not exactly at the
center of the scale. Then I ordered a second OT-120, and that unit had the same reading errors.
Quickly I returned the second KORG OT-120 to the seller, the first unit is out of warranty already.
Fortunately I found that SEIKO model SAT1100 tuner.
The Seiko has a better microphone response, furthermore it has a much a better input filtering than the KORG OT-120.
Higly dynamic guitar string picking does not cause erratic needle movements and the reading is quicker to take.
Tuning to 1 cent accuracy is conveniently achieved.
The SEIKO SAT1100 does only offer equal temperament tuning. For other temperaments you must have the tuning pitch tables available. Since the needle pointer is very stable, tuning off scale pitches is as easy as it can be.
Other SEIKO tuners, eg. the SAT800 display the cents tuning deviation as digital needle pointer and additionally they display the value in digital numbers in steps of 1 cent. The analog needle of the SAT1100 allows for finer resolution,
watching small changes as they occur, while the LCD types jump from cent to cent but are easier to read.
The only negative comment I give is about the design of the SAT1100 case and cover and the lack of a good table stand.

Yamaha QT1 Quartz Metronome, Teal Review

Yamaha QT1 Quartz Metronome, Teal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this metronome after I'd been playing a number of years, and quickly this became my personal favourite for a number of reasons. First, the colour makes it really easy to find when you're packing up your things, so you're less likely to lose it. Second, the adjustable volume control means that you can gradually fade out the metronome sound. Third, the flashing light I found particularly useful when practicing in the choir loft with the organ and organist at the other end of a church. The light enabled both of us to keep time without being confused by the heavy reverberation and the length of time it took the sound to travel. Fourth, the adjustable sound, volume and flashing light means that for an ensemble with some timing difficulties, it can be used extremely discreetly in a performance, with no-one in the audience the wiser. Fifth, the 9-volt battery it runs on lasts for ages, and is easily replaceable even at the most inconvenient place and hour. All in all, if you don't need the bells and whistles of different tunings, or something to tell you what beat in the measure you're on, or you're just looking for standard metronome, it would be hard to beat this one for the features.
I did find one of the two settings for the click to be not as useful as the other, but this may be a function of the partial hearing loss that is a common occupational hazard among musicians. Still, it's nice to have the choice! This has lasted me for more than ten years and I have to say that it's a first-rate product. I'm pleased to see that it's still available.

This metronome's great looks are only surpassed by its great performance. Volume control allows you to hear the beat over loud music, and two different "beat" sounds make for pleasant practice sessions. You can even turn the volume off and just follow the flashing red indicator light. The QT metronomes feature a compact design with quartz accuracy.

This is a great metronome! It's very compact and easy to use. You can operate it with the audible beep, or you can use the silent flashing LED light. It's also one of the cheapest!
FYI, it does *not* come with a battery (9V).
Highly recommended!

Seiko metronome has more features than most.
Our daughter did have to take it to her piano
teacher to figure out what the numbers on the
dial represented as the packaging did not explain.
However, the piano teacher asked where we purchased
such a nice metronome and now tells students to
purchase this item. Very well pleased!!!!
