Casio LK-270 61 Key Personal Lighted Keyboard with MP3 Connection, USB Port, SD Card Slot, and 570 Tones Review

Casio LK-270 61 Key Personal Lighted Keyboard with MP3 Connection, USB Port, SD Card Slot, and 570 Tones
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had my LK270 for about a month and am extremely pleased with it. This is a great family instrument with very good sound. Easy to add midi files with the SD card and do they sound great. The lighted keyboard picks up on these files and plays along. Only downside is that to get the wait for key lights for an entire tune takes a few changes and button pushes every time the the keyboard is turned on. Not real intuitive buttons at times and requires using the manual every time for awhile. Casio telephone support experience was very positive and a lot of help. This is not a toy but a musical instrument with a very reasonable price and the lighted keyboard only way to go as I see it for family use keyboard. Be sure to order SD5 power supply imediately !

You can also record your own performances, using up to six tracks of different instruments.
Step Up LessonsTo master a song, it is best to break it up into shorter parts (phrases), master the phrases, and then put everything together. The LK-270 features a "Step Up Lesson" feature that helps you to do just that. The built-in songs are pre-divided into phrases to help you master keyboard play. Step Up Lesson takes you through practice of the right hand part, left hand part, and both hand parts for each phrase of a song. Master all of the phrases and you master the song.

Twilight - The Score - Music from the Motion Picture - Piano Solo Songbook Review

Twilight - The Score - Music from the Motion Picture - Piano Solo Songbook
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The music provided is pretty and easy to learn, but I wish that it had had a little bit more of the substance that it had in the movie. It seems like they just put out the bare bones piano parts when they could have fleshed it out a little bit more. Still, it's fun to play these songs and think about the scenes in the movie that they correspond with.

Based on Stephenie Meyer's popular vampire-romance novels, the movie Twilight is taking huge bites out of box office receipts across the country! Composer Carter Burwell is highly regarded for his scores for the Coen brothers movies. Here are piano solo arrangements of music he composed for this film, including the achingly beautiful "Bella's Lullaby" and ten more pieces: Dinner with His Family - Edward at Her Bed - I Dreamt of Edward - I Would Be the Meal - In Place of Someone You Love - The Lion Fell in Love with the Lamb - Phascination Phase - Stuck Here like Mom - Tracking - Who Are They?.

Gator Cases Stretchy Cover Fits 88-Note Keyboard - GKC-1648
Average Reviews:

I bought this for my Fantom G8. Bad move! It doesn't even come close to fitting. As a matter of fact I cannot see what 88-key keyboard it would. When I put it on and lay it flat there is still an octave and a half of keyboard left to cover. Stretching it still leaves me with a half and octave before the other end slips off. I suppose this helps someone and I like the construction of these covers, but give us a heads up on what keyboards will not fit.

On Stage KS7150 Table Top Keyboard Stand Review

On Stage KS7150 Table Top Keyboard Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had been kicking myself for about 2 years, because I purchased an electronic keyboard with intentions of our son taking lessons in the future (he was only 2-years-old when we bought the keyboard).
I bought this stand hoping that 1. It would be sturdy enough to hold a full, 88-key, Casio Previa 100 easily and 2. Would be able to hold up to a 5-year-old, who has the tendency to kind of lean on tables and put his weight down on everything.
As soon as I opened the box, I was pleased. The stand "looked" sturdy and well made, but proved to require no assembly, just unfold, adjust the width and voila!
My one concern came to a screeching halt as soon as I put the keyboard stand in place. My one reservation was that if the angle of the legs were 45 degrees, that it might topple over easily. Keep in mind, I've got a 5-year-old running about and things get banged into. He is my live-in durability tester. However, all of my fears were put to rest in a matter of moments. I put the keyboard on the stand and noticed that the legs jet out at the sides just a bit, so there's no concern of the stand being knocked over to the side.
I do have to say that my stand is always stationary and is against a wall. I cannot really say how it would fair in another environment, but for our specific uses, it's absolutely perfect.

Hal Leonard John Mayer Continuum Piano, Vocal, Guitar Songbook
Average Reviews:

This book is perfect for advanced pianists. The music is written for the piano damn near exactly how it's played on Mayer's guitar. The only thing I was sad about was I'm Gonna Find Another You did not have the voice melody worked into the song.....it was just the background music of the actual song. Guess I'll have to start singing along while I play. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this piano book. :o)

Turtle Shaped Karimba Mbira Thumb Piano Kalimba Finger Review

Turtle Shaped Karimba Mbira Thumb Piano Kalimba Finger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This kalimba sits in our livingroom and when it isn't being used its job is to 'sit pretty'. The 'tines' aren't exactly tuned very carefully, when they move you have to sort of tune it again but it does have a good chimy sound. (When we first got it the sound made my dog think someone rang the doorbell and she'd run to the door!) This is a good 'starter kalimba' for fun, not for the serious percussion music enthusiast.

They need to update the software. Old tech, to get full screen you need to mess with desktop settings etc... It's very obvious they have not given this software any serious attention after it was released. That said it does what it's supposed to.
Ignore the single star folks; don't know what they are talking about. It doesn't matter what the songs are when you are learning to play the piano. It's all about practice so YOU THAT YOU CAN GO PLAY WHATEVER YOU WANT. If you can already read music and play the keyboard, buy the intermediate course. It's very well done, but it's all classical music.
For me, I'm self taught and play by ear. I bought this so I can get real feedback while I'm playing. So if playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Row Row Your Boat gets me there I have no problem with it. It still challenges me to read the music and master left, right hand.

Yamaha FC-5 Sustain Pedal for Portable Electronic Keyboards Review

Yamaha FC-5 Sustain Pedal for Portable Electronic Keyboards
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Growing up with an acoustic piano, I was uncomfortable with how the FC-5 Sustain Pedal felt. For me to tell when I was pressing the pedal or not, I had to take my shoes off. Unwilling to be an environmental hazard, I decided to purchase a pedal that has the feel of an acoustic piano's pedal. (Much better than buying that yellow tape to surround myself with...)
If you are looking for the feel of an acoustic piano's pedal, I would recommend the FC-4. Or if you want the same feel with a pedal that can do more than just sustain, I'd recommend the FC-3.

Wittner MT50 Metronome Review

Wittner MT50 Metronome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wittner MT50 Pocket Metronome
Flick the switch on the right side, and it starts instantly. Slide the switch up for blinking LED and sound, off is the middle position, and down is for LED only. Turn the center knob to select the desired tempo. Use the included ear plug to better hear the sound while making music. Takes one 9v battery. Includes built-in stand.
Pros:
- Will fit in many shirt pockets - is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Weighs only a few ounces, so there is no burden to carry it in your gig bag or instrument case.
- Takes no more than a couple of seconds to select a tempo of 40 to 208. Knurled knob is just right for sure control.
- Tuning note is a perfect A 440 according to my new Korg tuner.
- Clicking of beat sound is an OK volume when there's no music being played.
- Handy wire stand to hold unit in near-vertical position on a flat surface.
- Wearing ear-piece provides reasonably audible sound. I can hear it while playing my trumpet, for example.
Cons:
- The blinking LED is too faint to be of much use. Set it on your music stand while playing, and unless you have terrific peripheral vision or the unit is within inches of your sight line, you probably won't see the light. Other brands have much brighter LEDs.
- The beat sound, although OK, is not as loud as other pocket metronomes my fellow musicians use. It's OK for small group tempo setting, but insufficiently loud to demonstrate tempo to a large band.
- The ear-piece is useful while practicing on your own, but the volume could be a bit higher (and yes, my hearing is just fine). In any case, my antique wooden metronome with the swinging pendulum is much easier to follow, at least for me.
- Basic, no frills device. A volume and brightness control would have been a big help. There are no beat (4/4, 2/4, 3/4 etc., where beat 1 is louder) choices. It doesn't shut off by itself.
Summary:
I bought it mostly to set the tempo for small groups I'm in, before we start a piece. For that, it works fine. However, having a weak LED and so-so beat sound, are pretty basic weaknesses. I wouldn't buy this one again.

Easy to use, the Wittner MT50 metronome prominently features a tempo dial that adjusts between 40 to 208 beats per minute. The MT50's speaker produces a loud "tick" sound, which is easier to hear in context than the "beep" produced by most other electronic metronomes. The MT50 also has a flashing LED beat indicator, which can be used for silent practice or along with the speaker for added visual reference. The MT50 also generates an A=440 reference tone for tuning. A built-in wire stand allows convenient upright positioning. Earphone included. Uses one 9V battery (not Included).

This is a Win/Win product for teachers and students. With over 30 years experience, and a large studio of successful students, I can attest that Piano Head taps into the quick visual perception both honed in today's youth by video games, and required by successful music readers.Kids are further motivated by the challenge to appear on the Worldwide Scoreboard, which entices them to practice their note and interval recognition to the desired level of automaticity.I have many students who have leaped to a higher level of understanding and enthusiasm for playing the piano, as Piano Head has lifted them beyond the mundane level of "hunt and peck". At a time when national studies show that a large percentage of piano students drop out after two years of lessons because they cannot read music, I cannot recommend this product highly enough!

NEW KEYBOARD STAND - 58 HEAVY DUTY "Z" TYPE PIANO BENCH Review

NEW KEYBOARD STAND - 58 HEAVY DUTY Z TYPE PIANO BENCH
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let's face it, all of those X-style stands are convenient and quick for keyboard players, but they just don't look very cool once they've been set up. The Z stand is closer to the right idea, even though you'll notice the seller seems a bit confused about the difference between a "stand" and a "bench." Nevertheless, I trusted the picture, and indeed it is a stand--moreover a Z-style stand at an X-style price. The problem with this one, from what I've been able to determine (there wasn't a scrap of instructions or even a diagram included in the box, and two crucial rubber pieces immediately came unglued) is the words "heavy duty," especially if yours is a keyboard costing more than five hundred dollars and weighing more than 40 pounds. I can't for a moment conceive of anyone foolish enough to entrust a Roland RD700 or Kurzweil PC3 to this thin and wobbly piece of metal. If you decide to order it, take that "heavy duty" description with the same degree of seriousness as the "piano bench" description.
The stand could possibly see some use with a lightweight Yamaha or Casio keyboard (one of the models without weighted action), though you'd still probably be better advised to check in with a reputable dealer like Sweetwater, explaining the keyboard you plan to use with the stand along with the frequency of use. (This thing is not built to survive weekly travels in the band van, let alone rough roadhouse use.)
